I am a single woman who travels all over Belize, most times on my own, and some of the time, on lonely and remote roads. I feel a relatively high degree of personal safety. Women, whether traveling singularly or in numbers, will feel comfortable throughout the country. Belize is a matriarchal society and as such, women are prominently seen out and about tending to their daily lives. You won't feel out of place traveling on your own.

Belize people are naturally friendly. Likewise, so are the many visitors we attract to our shores. If you are traveling on your own, assume you'll have the opportunity to meet Belizeans and other travelers like yourselves who you'll be able to sit next to for a chat or pal up with for traveling.

Because I'm in the tourism industry, I spend a good deal of time visiting hotels and taking tours on my own and am struck by how comfortable I'm made to feel.
